JavaScript setFullYear() Method

Definition and Usage

The setFullYear() method is used to set the year.

Syntax

dateObject.setFullYear(year,month,day)

Parameter Description
year Required. A four-digit value representing the year
month Optional. A numeric value between 0 and 11 representing the month
day Optional. A numeric value between 1 and 31 representing the date


Tips and Notes

Note: This method is always used in conjunction with a Date object.

Example 1

In this example we set the year to 1992 with the setFullYear() method:

d.setFullYear(1992);

 The output of the code above will be:

Tue May 12 1992 19:32:40 GMT+0530 (India Standard Time)


Example 2

In this example we set the date to November 3, 1992 with the setFullYear() method:

var d = new Date();
d.setFullYear(1992,10,3);
document.write(d);
</script>
 
The output of the code above will be:

Tue Nov 03 1992 19:32:40 GMT+0530 (India Standard Time)
