Definition and Usage

The toUTCString() method converts a Date object, according to Universal Coordinated Time (UTC), to a string and returns the result.

Syntax

dateObject.toUTCString()


Example

In the example below we will convert today's date (according to UTC) to a string:

var d = new Date();
document.write (d.toUTCString());
</script>

The output of the code above will be:

Fri, 11 May 2012 09:05:37 GMT


Example 2

In the example below we will convert a specific date (according to UTC) to a string:

var born = new Date("July 21, 1983 01:15:00");
document.write(born.toUTCString());
</script>

The output of the code above will be:

Wed, 20 Jul 1983 19:45:00 GMT
