JavaScript toLocaleString() Method

Definition and Usage

The toLocaleString() method converts a Date object, according to local time, to a string and returns the result.

Syntax

dateObject.toLocaleString()


Example 1

In the example below we will convert today's date (according to local time) to a string:

var d = new Date();
document.write(d.toLocaleString());
</script>

The output of the code above will be:

Friday, May 11, 2012 2:40:09 PM


Example 2

In the example below we will convert a specific date (according to local time) to a string:

<script type="text/javascript">
var born = new Date("July 21, 1983 01:15:00");
document.write(born.toLocaleString());
</script>

The output of the code above will be:

Thursday, July 21, 1983 1:15:00 AM
